Program Logistics
The VEX AI Summer Program is designed to provide students with hands-on experience in robotics, enhancing their technical skills and encouraging creative thinking.
For the Resident Program, accommodations will be provided at the UC Berkeley Dormitory, offering a comfortable and convenient living space close to event activities. Meals will be served in the university's dining hall facilities, ensuring a complete campus experience.
A Day Scholar option is available for local students who prefer to commute daily. Additionally, we offer a Fully Virtual experience, providing a flexible and accessible option for students worldwide.

The Robolabs Summer Academy (RSA) is a week-long immersive program at UC Berkeley designed for students aged 13-18 to explore artificial intelligence, robotics, and engineering through hands-on projects, expert-led workshops, and industry mentorship.

The program takes place on UC Berkeley’s campus, offering access to state-of-the-art facilities, and a vibrant academic environment. There is also an online option for remote participants.

Students aged 13-18 with an interest in robotics, AI, and engineering are encouraged to apply. No prior experience is required, though a background in STEM, competitive robotics, or basic programming is helpful.

Yes! International students are welcome and encouraged to apply.

We offer three ways to participate:
1. Resident Program ($3,500) – Full experience, including dorm stay, meals, classes, evening activities, and field trips.
2. Day Scholar ($2,500) – Attend all daytime classes and activities but commute home in the evening.
3. Online Program ($2,000) – Access workshops and lectures remotely from anywhere in the world.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and spots are limited. The priority deadline is early July, but we encourage applying early.

Students will work on real-world AI and robotics challenges, including:
• Computer vision & object detection
• Mapping, positioning, and path planning
• Autonomous robotics using NVIDIA Jetson & Intel RealSense
• AI-powered sensors and machine learning applications

• 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM: Breakfast & team-building
• 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM: Lecture (e.g., Robot Mechanical Design & Systems Engineering)
• 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Hands-on Lab (e.g., Computer Vision & Object Detection)
• 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM: Lunch
• 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Guest Speaker (e.g., AI Lead at Amazon)
• 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Interactive Lecture (e.g., Neural Networks & Deep Learning)
• 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM: Social activities/free time
• 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM: Dinner

Students in the Resident Program stay in UC Berkeley dormitories, providing a safe, comfortable, and social environment close to all program activities.

Meals are included in the Resident Program, served at UC Berkeley’s dining halls, accommodating all dietary restrictions.

Students are assigned a Residential Assistant (RA) who ensures their safety and well-being. The program maintains a structured and supervised environment at all times.

Beyond AI and robotics, students explore the Bay Area, with activities like:
• Visiting Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco
• Rock climbing
• Movie nights
• Team-building outdoor games
